| Wall bracket An adjustable bracket which attaches to a slide bar or hanger allowing the user to pivot and rotate the position of a handshower.

| Wall-mount Type of installation in which a lavatory is supported from the wall. Since there is nothing between the floor and Kohler's wall-mount Chesapeake lavatory, cleaning is a breeze.

| Wash Type of sink furnished with multiple wash stations.

| Washout A urinal flushing system which cleans out a urinal by providing a water rinse over the back wall of the urinal. KOHLER urinals offer either washout, blowout or siphon jet flushing systems. A washout urinal is best suited to an office building installation where traffic is not exceptionally heavy.

| Water closet Industry term for toilet.

| Water hammer A rattling of pipes that may occur from the hammer effect of stopping the flow of water through a high-flow faucet unless the required hammer supressor devices are installed.

| Water surface Interior surface of the bowl, and all other surfaces which may come in contact with water during flushing. Also referred to as the flushing surface. KOHLER toilets offer a water surface that measures 9" x 8" or larger to keep the bowl cleaner while reducing odors.

| Water-hammer suppressor Typically a short vertical run of pipe or tubing designed to hold air and maintain a buffer from the water hammer that may occur when a high-flow faucet is turned off.

| Waterfall (10-Jet or Custom models only) A serviceable component that provides sheets of flowing water. The waterfall turns on automatically when the unit is turned on, and when all the Body Jets are turned off. The waterfall includes an integral light, which stays on as long as the BodySpa is running.

| Wave washer A washer, common in drain linkages, which provides pressure against a ball or other mechanism even when the opposing nut is not fully tightened.

| Wax ring A toilet bowl gasket designed to form a seal between the toilet base and the floor or closet flange. It typically fits over either a 3" or 4" outlet, is wide enough to fill modest gaps, and should maintain a seal despite bowl or building movement.

| Whirlpool Bathtub fitted with jets which propel a current of warm water in a swirling motion. KOHLER offers more than 45 different whirlpools with a variety of standard features and options.

| Whirlpool jet Spout or nozzle for propelling a stream of water into a whirlpool basin. Kohler's exclusive Flexjet whirlpool jets are the most adjustable, user-friendly jets available. Direct hydro-massage to all major muscle groups by simply rotating the jet ball on the trim ring.

| Whirlpool trim kit The whirlpool jets and suction cover fittings required to complete a whirlpool installation. KOHLER whirlpool trim kits are offered in metal finishes or colors to match the whirlpool.

| Widespread Lavatory faucet in which separate hot and cold handles and valves are installed into fixture holes set 6-16" apart. All current KOHLER widespread faucets are ergonomically designed to operate with a comfortable 1/4 turn of the handle.

| Wing nut A nut designed to be tightened by hand. The wings on the nut provide the gripping surface. Never use tools to tighten a wing nut, as it may cause damage to another part of the product.

| Winterizing The process of preparing plumbing fixtures and fittings to withstand freezing temperatures. For toilets, this involves draining the tank and, since water in the bowl provides a seal against sewer gas entering the residence, adding sufficient anti-freeze to the bowl to prevent freezing. For faucets, pay special attention to looped hoses containing water below the counter surface and to multi-function showerheads which typically retain water between uses.
