Garden hose
Low capacity general consumer hose typically used to discharge water outside of the home through an outside faucet.

 

Gasket
Piece or ring of rubber or metal placed at a joint to make it leakproof. The gasket on Kohler's Focal shower enclosures runs the full length of the door to ensure a watertight seal.

Gate valve
A valve capable of stopping or reducing the flow within a pipe.

 

Gauge
Refers to thickness of stainless steel and is commonly used in reference to quality grades on certain types of lavatories and sinks. Kohler's 18- and 20-gauge stainless steel sinks go through a number of polishing and buffing operations to ensure a beautiful finish.

GPF
Abbreviation for "Gallons Per Flush", used in discussing water consumption of toilets.

 

Grab bar
Strategically placed hand rails and supports found on whirlpool baths, bathtubs and shower modules which provide an added measure of safety for the bather. Grab bars on select KOHLER bath and whirlpool models make it easier to access and exit the tub or showers.

Gravity-fed
Flushing system which relies on the natural downward pressure of water in a toilet tank. KOHLER gravity-fed toilets are designed with powerful siphon jets, or front rim jets and a 2" wide glazed trapway to provide an efficient flush.

A toilet which relies on the natural downward pressure (or "head") of water in a toilet tank to flush the toilet effectively.

 

Grid
Drain often used in commercial applications. Does not allow user to control opening and closing of drain. Drain is always open.

A joint which consists of pressing two smooth mating surfaces together without a gasket or supplemental sealant. Also refers to faucets having the componets for a ground goint connection on their supply inlet.
