ABS pipe
Black plastic pipe suitable for drainage or waste pipe in plumbing systems.

Actuator
Mechanism on outside of toilet tank used to initiate the flush of a toilet. Also referred to as trip lever. KOHLER actuators offer high quality, corrosion-resistant metal construction to ensure years of durable use.

Connector mechanism to join parts of differing sizes.

 

Adjustable linkage
An adjustable strap or bar forming a connection between the lift rod of a faucet and the ball lever assembly of the drain.

Aerator
Device for oxygenating water, filling the water flow with air bubbles. On kitchen faucets, it enables a faucet to provide different flows of water, from stream to spray. Kohler's Provence kitchen faucet offers touch control stream-to-spray adjustment.

Hand tool used to install and remove aerator on vandal-resistant faucets.

 

Air switch
Switch found on a whirlpool which sends pulse of air to start system. Air switches on KOHLER System I whirlpools can be color-matched to the fixture.

 

Allen wrench
Size-specific "L"-shaped loosening and tightening tool. Also referred to as hex key.

 

Angle adjuster
Hand controlled directional device controlling handshower flow direction.

 

Angle stop
Water supply shut-off valve which also changes the direction of the flow of supply water.

 

Anti-clog suction
Whirlpool water recirculating system mechanism which prevents clogging without restricting water flow. An innovative cover design prevents clogging on all KOHLER whirlpool systems.

 

Anti-derailing mechanism
Device which prevents shower door panels from coming off track when they slide back and forth. The anti-derailing mechanism on Kohler's Forum shower enclosures ensure safe operation.

Floor-installed overflow drain.

Aspiration
The result of mixing air with discharging water for the purpose of enhancing the hydro-massage effect of the whirlpool.

 

Aspirator
Part of Pressure-Lite toilet flush control components, along with backflow preventer, pressure regulator, and outlet manifold. These components work with the incoming pressurized supply line water to provide a regulated pressure flush to the toilet bowl.

Kohler-certified repair technician to whom equipment repairs should be directed.

 

Autofill
System which allows user to program a whirlpool to fill automatically to a desired level and temperature at specified time. KOHLER offers the Autofill option on several of its whirlpools. When the system activates, the drain automatically closes, water fills, and then beeps three times when it is completely filled.

Auxiliary control
A serviceable secondary control box which communicates directly with the primary control within the pump. The auxilliary control interprets and processes a variety of electronic signals, including valve and switch operation.
