The older Geberit Handle Adapter square opening is larger because there should be a brass sleeve that fits inside the large opening. |

Solution:
The current style Geberit Handle Adapter 860.366.00.0 should fit on the shaft, but you need to remove the old larger square sleeve from the shaft. |
